We at Keep It Movin, Inc. are dedicated to meeting the challenges that female inmates face upon reintegration into society. We will accomplish this through the use of a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that will provide accommodations and in-house educational opportunities, as well as career and life skills development.
K.I.M. is focused on providing and improving the lives of women struggling with incarceration which causes lack of employability. We envision a world in which all young women regardless of race, ethnicity, income level or social status are nurtured and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
To enhance and meet the challenges of reentry by developing a comprehensive evidence-based approach that will provide in-house services and accommodations. Our goal is to increase the organizations ability to better serve our clients and customers in the DMV area.
Our organization will be strengthened by partnerships with public and private agencies, and community faith-based organizations as well as mentoring and development programs. These partnerships are geared towards helping our organizations create a unique blend of services to reduce recidivism, homelessness and unemployment hindrances. Our organization will diversify funding to expand resources that will promote growth and ensure competency of staff, volunteers and board members necessary to achieve our measurable goals.

Directed by Kim Smith, K.I.M. was founded to address the housing, vocational, and economic needs of previously-incarcerated women. We seek to assist in the successful reintegration of our women in a positive and enriching environment. Our mission is accomplished by addressing the critical issues of education and personal development through programs and services that utilize high standards of ethics, best practices in management, accountability, and proven adult learning theories. We are dedicated to helping each woman reach her individual potential by providing a high quality, life-enriching experience that is rooted in a passionate commitment to excellence.
K.I.M. strives to serve as many women as possible with the resources we have available. Every individual is important to our organization and we will not discriminate against anyone. By offering services that are concentrated on serving those less fortunate and addressing the greatest needs of our target community, we can make a positive contribution in helping the people we work with lead a more fulfilling life.
Individual empowerment and self-determination have always been strong components of our organization.
